Kindled Fire

the day of vengeance is in my heart,

and the year of my redeemed is come.

~ Isaiah 63:4 ~

Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find doing so. Of a truth I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. But if that servant says in his heart, “My lord delays his coming;” and shall begin to beat the servants and maids, and to eat and drink, and to be drunk; the lord of that servant will come in a day when he does not look for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him asunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and did not prepare himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that did not know, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomever much is given, of him shall much be required, and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

I am come to send fire on the earth, and what will I, if it is already kindled?
